I joined Second Life in October 2006.
Arriving in Second Life is like getting off an airplane in Cairo wearing only a T-shirt and jeans. It’s a whole new world with a different geography, language and customs. You need to buy clothes, makeup, jewelry, shoes – everything – and you have to find the stores and how to get to the stores. Rarely in life does one get such a wonderful chance to start again from scratch.
While getting started is difficult, the rewards of a new, virtual life are amazing. One soon meets people from around the world and has access to events and lifestyles that are difficult to find or are very expensive in RL. As I like to say, Second Life is 90% reality at 10% the price.
